The depth makes just 0.1 inch, which is great for travel or just carrying along but raises concerns as to the durability. The active area makes 6 x 4 inches, while the bezels extend the XP-Pen Star G640 to 7.5 x 6.5 inches. By default, the toggle switch works for shifting between the “pen” and “eraser” mode. The pen is enhanced with two buttons that can be customized in each particular setting or software.
The Star G640 sketch is quick to draw and edit in any of the popular software (Photoshop, SAI, Krita, etc.). It’s easy to work with the color mixing and contour thickness in each particular fragment of the picture or a sketch. The screen of the XP-Pen StarG640 has a high resolution of 5080 LPI letting you draw and edit the tiny details with ease and precision. There are 8192 pressure levels available. However, it’s quick to get used to, especially with the detailed sensitivity dial that lets regulate the pressure. The drawing area of the XP-Pen G640 is smooth, and it can be a bit too responsive at first. It has a low-to-medium sensitivity by default, while these settings can be changed via the relevant menu. The stylus is battery-free and thus, doesn’t require any adjustment. Having installed them once, all I had to do is plug in the tablet to the laptop and enter the chosen software to start to work. Getting to the manufacturer’s website, I had to find the XP-Pen G640 drivers and download the correct ones for my laptop (Windows 10). The straightforward setup is a definite plus of this tablet.
